Autism & Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD)

Autism is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects a child’s communication, social interaction, and behavior.
Children with autism may experience sensory sensitivities, show repetitive behaviors, or have focused interests. Many also find it challenging to manage daily routines or transitions.

Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) often occurs alongside autism. It affects how a child’s brain processes sensory information — such as sound, touch, taste, movement, and light — leading to over- or under-sensitivity to sensory input.

Therapies that support children with Autism and SPD include:

  • Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapy
  • Occupational Therapy (OT)
  • Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)
  • Speech and Language Therapy
